Meeting Chris Colfer; TLOS Book Tour 2012
So today, I went to the first stop of Chris’ TLOS book tour at Bookends in Ridgewood New Jersey…
It’s in the town right over from mine so we were super lucky that he they got him to come to Ridgewood.
Alright, so our day started around 7:45am when I picked everyone up and we drove to the store. It was a little scary when we got there because like the whole first row of the queue they had set up was full and some people had slept there overnight!
So we got in line to buy the books and it was fucking hot even at 8am. (Only a whetting of the heat we would experience later). So once the store opened it was pretty much like yeah go ahead buy the book. It was organized though and everyone was very calm and no one was like running or anything like that.
THE BOOK IS BEAUTIFUL. We spent like half an hour just examining and picking apart the different little hidden pictures in the cover… ITS SO DETAILED. Starbucks was ours(and everyone elses) prime food source of the day so we got breakfast there and chilled for like three hours. ANND we met the beautiful Katelynn (happy-riceball is her URL) who is hilarious and from Long Island. She was the one in the Cinderella costume (theres pictures floating around)
Around 11 we went back to the line which was filling up pretty quick but we got a good spot and we pretty much just chilled. We took turns walking around the different stores and making Starbucks runs and playing cards but really there isnt much that you can do in the parking lot on a hot day. (Though we did make an umbrella fortress to block out the sun).
Blah blah blah and waiting and stuff and food.
So around 430-5ish they let the first two lines of the queue in. (We were in the third) Thus letting everyone move up and sorta putting us in the shade. But, soon enough it was time to go inside! In there we waited a pretty long time and people were filtering in an out buying the book and wondering why the hell we were in there.
Soon though the excitement started to settle in as press and police people arrived.
THEN CHRIS GOT THERE. And he came in the back door and he said hi and everyone screamed and “then he went to the bathroom which was really cute”(gotta give credit to Logan for that quote). AND THEN a girl in a wheelchair wasn’t going to be able to get downstairs SO HE FUCKING GAVE HER A HUG AND SIGNED HER BOOK LIKE PERSONALLY AND THEY TOOK A PICTURE AND STUFF UGH IT WAS SOOO CUTE. So yeah then it was more waiting until it was our turn.
THEN WE MET HIM and it was glorious and he wished me a Happy Birthday( and its actually my birthdayish!) and he signed IN GOLD SHARPIE and it was so nice and Logan gave him a note and cried and I just kinda smiled and stuff but OMG HE IS SO FUCKING CUTE AND HIS VOICE IS PERF AND HIS HAIR IS PERF AND HIS SMILE IS PERF AND HIS WRITING IS PERF AND HE IS PERF. And the book is actually really good. He is an amazing writer and even for a children’s book its very eloquently and intelligently written in a way that I know would challenge the little kids it was meant for and it’s just such a good book.
So yeah guys! That was my day meeting Chris Colfer. 13 hours, 100 degrees, countless starbucks cups, and the one and only Christopher Paul Colfer
